but there are others who are exercising too much.

Chronic Compartment Syndrome
SYMPTOMS
- Aches & pains in your muscles or joints
- Fatigue that makes you stop before your workout is complete
- Headaches
- Insomnia
- High am pulse rate
- Increase in colds & sore throats

CAUSES
- Not resting enough in between workouts
- Doing the same workout or exercise too much

WHAT TO DO?
- Don't do the same workout every day
- Schedule low intensity workouts inbetween high intensity workouts
- Warm up before each workout
- Stretch before & after workouts
- Make sure to eat a combination of protein carbs & fat after each workout
- If you're feeling tired shortly after you start your workout, stop & do something less stressful
- Make sure to get enough sleep

CHRONIC

SYNDROME
This syndrome is caused by too much exercise
SYMPTOMS
- Pain or cramping during exercise
- Numbness
- Difficulty moving the foot
- Visible muscle bulging

WHAT TO EXPECT
AT YOUR DOCTOR'S APPOINTMENT
- The doctor will ask if you run uphill or sprint to make sure you're not having anterior muscle pains
- The doctor will ask what kind of surface you exercise on & may suggest a change or surface or shoes
- The doctor will press on your tendons to make sure you don't have tendonitis
- An X-ray will probably be taken to make sure you don't have a stress fracture
- An MRI may be taken to be sure you don't have an extra muscle in the compartment
To confirm that you have this syndrome
an additional appointment is required
- A shot is given to numb each leg
- The pressure in your compartment before excercise is measured
- You run on the treadmill until you can't run anymore
- The presure in your compartment after exercise is then measured
- This is done 3 times in each leg

- Physical therapy
- Orthotics
- Anti-inflammatory prescriptions
- Stop exercising when you have pain
- Surgery to give the muscle more room to swell
