SHINGLES
SYMPTOMS MAY INCLUDE
- Pain or burning sensation
- Tingling or numbness
- Headache
- Sensitivity to light
- Chills
- Stomach ache
- Diarrhea
- Swelling of lymph nodes

ACTIVE STAGE
- Band, strip or small area of rash will appear
- Rash will appear either on the left OR right side of the body
- It’s possible to have rashes in more than 1 area of your body
- Rash can be extremely painful
Contact your doctor immediately if rash surrounds an eye

BLISTERS WILL FORM
- May be clear at first
- Then might become cloudy
- After 5 days, the blisters may break open oozing & eventually crusting

CHRONIC PAIN STAGE
- Burning, stabbing or achy pain can last for 30 days to a couple of months to several years
- The areas with the most pain are generally the forehead or chest so they will be extremely sensitive
- The pain will affect eating, sleeping & your ability to do work or normal household chores
- If you are taking a blood thinner such as Coumadin do NOT go off the blood thinner to get a pain block for this will put you at risk for a stroke
- Pain can lead to depression
