PREP FOR SEDERS
AT HOME
A MONTH BEFORE
- Figure out how many guests are coming
- Check if any of your guests have a special diet requirement
- If you need more tables or chairs, arrange to borrow or rent tables
- Check if you have enough Passover dishes, silverware, glasses, serving plates, condiment bowls &/or plates
- If you don't have a Seder plate you can buy one at a local Jewish book & gift store or on-line
- If using paper goods & cups buy them now
- Check out the kosher grocery store for new products & test out the ones that interest you
3 WEEKS BEFORE
- Decide on your final menu
- Make a shopping list of non-perishible food proudcts you’ll need including soda, tea, coffee
non-stick cooking spray, oil & seasonings - Go shopping but don't forget items like candles, memorial candles, grape juice & wine
- Store groceries away in a place where no chometz is being prepared or eaten
2 WEEKS BEFORE
- Place your meat, poultry order which should include chicken necks for the Seder plate
- Shop for non-perishable staples that weren't available when you shopped the prior week
- Have your family members clean their desk drawers, knapsacks, purses or any other place

MAKE A SCHEDULE
FOR KOSHERIZING YOUR KITCHEN
- If you don't know how to make your kitchen kosher for Passover read our page Preparing Your Home For Passover &/or contact a local Rabbi for assistance
- Some communities have a service that will come to your home & do the entire process for you
- Make sure to plan how & where you're going to eat on Shabbat & Sunday
DURING THE WEEK
BEFORE THE 1ST SEDER
- Kasher (Kosherize) your kitchen for Passover
- Pick up your meat & poultry order
- Shop for perishable items including fruit & vegetables plus items that you need for the seder plate
ONCE YOU HAVE A PASSOVER KITCHEN
- Prepare as much food ahead of time for the seders including baked items
- Prepare items for the Seder Plate
Make Charoses
Hard-boil eggs
Boil potatoes &/or clean parsley or celery depending on your family's minhag (custom) - Fill your Passover salt & pepper shakers
- Gather serving dishes making sure you have enough for each item you're serving
