SEDER SCHEDULE
This guide helps you understand what you are doing at the Seder
KADESH - RECITE THE KIDDUSH
We say the Passover Kiddush over the 1st of the 4 cups of wine

URCHATZ - WASH THE HANDS
Ritual washing the hands but no bracha (blessing) is said
♦♦♦♦♦
KARPAS - EAT A GREEN VEGETABLE
- Eating a green vegetable such as celery, potato, parsley or green onions
dipped in salt-water - Salt water is symbolic of the tears shed by the Jewish People in Egypt during slavery and throughout our history
- Before we eat this vegetable
we recite the standard bracha for eating vegetables,
Borei Pri Ha’Adamah - As we recite this bracha we do it with the intention that this recitation shall also apply to the Moror which is also a vegetable we will be eating later

YACHATZ - BREAK THE MIDDLE MATZA
- Break the middle matza into 2 unequal pieces Set aside the largler piece for use as the afikoman eaten after dessert
- The smaller piece, representing the "bread of affliction," is returned to its place as the middle matza & may be eaten later for the Mitzva (positive commandent) of Matza
- The larger piece, representing the Passover sacrifice, will be eaten at the end of the meal
after dessert (Afikoman) - Most people follow the custom for children to hide this piece & ransom it later for a gift of
some sort from the Seder leader

MAGGID - RECITE THE PASSOVER STORY
- Reading of the Hagadah which relates the story of the Jews leaving Egypt starts with
Haw Lachma Anya (This is the bread of affliction…) - Then pour the 2nd cup of wine that we don't actually drink until later
- Proceed with the hagada by having the youngest child (or youngest person) ask the Ma'
Nishtanah ( 4 questions) which is folllowed by the answer starting with Avawdim Ha'Yenu
(We were slaves of Pharoah in Egypt…)

DIPPING WITH OUR FINGERS
- We dip a finger into our wine cup, say a plague & place a drop of wine on our plate
- We do this for all 10 plagues
- This is done to show awareness that the Egyptians, though our enslavers, did suffer from the plagues

SING DAYENU
We say the bracha (blessing) & drink the second cup of wine
♦♦♦♦♦
MIRIAM'S CUP
- This is an optional new feminist tradition
- You fill a cup with water
- Some one at the table tells the story of how she helped find water in the desert
- Some relate stories of how women have helped the Jewish people since then

POINT TO SEDER FOODS
- On the Seder plate you have Pesach (chicken neck), Matza & Maror (bitter herb)
- As you point to each item you recite its description & purpose
- Say the bracha (blessing) & drink the 2nd Seder cup of wine

RACHTZAH - WASH HANDS BEFORE A MEAL
- Washing of the hands a second time
- This time you say the bracha (blessing) of Ahl Nit’elas Ya’Dayim
- No speaking allowed after you say the bracha until you eat the matza

MOTZEE MATZA - SAY BRACHA ON MATZA
- Say the ha’motzi bracha (blessing) on the covered matza
- Then say the achilas matza bracha (blessing)
- Don’t speak until after you’ve eaten your portion of matza

MOROR - EAT THE BITTER HERB
- Take some romaine lettuce OR white horseradish root
- Dip it into the Charoses (apple, nut & wine paste)
- Recite the bracha (blessing) al achilas moror & eat

KORECH
EAT BITTER HERB & CHAROSES & MATZA TOGETHER
The sandwich consists of a piece of several layers
- think of it as a triple decker sandwich
- Matza on the bottom
- Moror (romaine lettuce &/or white horseradish root) & Charoses on top of the matza
- Another layer of matza on top of the Moror & Charoses

SHULCHAN ORUCH - SERVE THE FESTIVE MEAL
- Eat the hardboiled egg
- If you don't eat egg yolks for health reasons you can just eat the white part of the egg
- Now enjoy your a festive meal

TZAFUNE
- Eat the Afikomen
- After you eat the afikomen, no food, other than the 2 remaining cups of wine, should be eatem before morning
- If you need to drink water or take medicine with water, you may do so

BAYRECH - SAY THE GRACE AFTER MEALS
- Pour the 3rd cup of wine
- Say the grace after meals
- Then say the bracha (blessing) on the 3rd cup of wine & drink the majority of the cup

KOS ELIYAHU - CUP OF ELIJAH
- Pour the 4th cup of wine for yourself
- Fill the cup of Eliyahu the Prophet with wine
- The youngest in the room opens the door while we read from the Hagadah

HALLEL - RECITE THE HALLEL
- Say Hallel (psalms of praise)
♦♦♦♦♦
NIRTZAH - CONCLUDE THE SEDER
- Say the bracha (blessing) & then drink the 4th cup of wine
- We conclude with an additional prayer that we will have our Seders next year in Jerusalem
- Sing traditional Passover songs
