same colors, in the same areas, along with using each product’s individual brush. - Makeup & tools specifically for use on Shabbos may not be used on any other day of the week.
- Similarly, all other makeup, tools & brushes used on all other days can't be used on Shabbos
- The use of sponges, wet cloths, makeup pads or cotton balls is forbidden.
- Colors must not touch to create a new color.
- Makeup can be removed using warm water
We are blessed with Shabbos, our sacred day of rest.
So while we want to enhance our appearance
& feel our best, resting on the Sabbath is also essential.

to the skin.
USE MAKEUP APPLICATION
IN THIS ORDER ON SHABBOS
- Makeup application should always start at the top & go to the bottom, on Shabbos or
any other time.
1. SKIN: Moisturize entire face misting with a spray facial oil. Let dry.
2. EYES:
A. Using a lighter & a darker color, apply each color with it's own separate brush.
B. The best way to accent the eye is to apply the darker color directly on the last line,
almost making dots in a tapping motion
3. FACE:
A. Spray powder foundation, or non-Spray, the choice is yours.
B. Apply or spray powder on the face, except on the apple of the cheek, where the
blush will be applied.
4. CHEEKS:
A. Spray powder foundation, or non-Spray, the choice is yours.
B. The most effective way to apply plus is to smile.
C. This reveals the apple of the cheed which is where the spray powder blus is
pointed, or the non-spray blush can be applied.
5. LIPS
A. After misting the face with facial oil &then applying lip powder, it’s best to get into
the habit of not licking the lips
B. Moisturizing the lips during the week, using a good lip moisturizing treatment, will
ensure smooth & soft lips on Shabbos.
A WORD ABOUT LONG LASTING MAKEUP
- When left with no other alternative, many women resorted to 'long-lasting' makeup.
- Applied just before the start of Shabbos, it remains on the face for over 25 hours.
- During this time,
1. Foundation often falls into the little lines & wrinkles drawing unwanted attention to
what was intended to be concealed.
2. Mascara starts to flake leaving the appearance of dark circles under the eyes & as
the lipstick wears unevenly the lips appear chapped & dry.
