Who says the bracha (s)
- In most homes, only the father gives the bracha(s).
- In some homes, both parents give the bracha(s) separately
- It is appropriate for single mothers to give the bracha(s)
There are different customs in different homes
- Some people get up and go to their children's place
- Others have the children come to them.
- The parent places their hand on the child's head while saying the bracha
for boys &/or girls. - Some parents add something personal such as complimenting the child on an accomplishment that happened during the week.
