THE TRUTH IN PASSOVER TRAVEL
MISLEADING CONVERSATIONS
On the phone, in person or via e-mail & texting
WHAT THEY SAID
A potential guest called a 'high end' program.
When he said he was going to look at other programs in the area,
the tour operator warned him to be careful because there were
only 3 programs in that state in the prior year
& 1 of them ran out of food & it wasn't his program.
WHAT IS TRUE
None of the programs in that state ran out of food last year.

WHAT THEY SAID
A tour operator told guests from the previous year that both programs
they hosted the previous year would be happening again this year.
WHAT HAPPENED
A few weeks before Passover,
the guests who paid to go to 1 of the hotels
were told that the hotel had a new owner
& the new owner didn't want
to do a Passover program.
The guests were given incentives to go to the other hotel
which was in another state & at least a a 4 hour drive
from the hotel where they had originally reserved
Our research team found no evidence that the hotel was sold.
What we did find was that the city had an event
on the last weekend of Passover
& that all hotels in that city were bound
by a city-wide rule
that they couldn't take any other groups.
This information about the city-wide was event
was already public in the fall before this program was advertised.

WHAT THEY SAID
Your 28% taxes & tips cover all your tips
WHAT HAPPENED
After havdolah on the last night of the program,
the tour operator announced
that the 28% taxes & tips
originally charged were not enough to tip the waiters.
The guests were asked to tip the waiters.

WHAT THEY SAID
A new tour operator told a caller that the hotel is a
5 minute walk to the ocean.
WHAT THE HOTEL SAID
We are a mile to 1 1/2 mile from the ocean.
♦♦♦♦♦
WHAT THEY SAID
We have ocean view from all rooms.
WHAT THE HOTEL SAID
You can see the ocean far off in the horizon from some rooms.
♦♦♦♦♦
WHAT THEY SAID
Of course, we have 2 double beds connected to 2 double beds
WHAT THE HOTEL SAID
We have King bed connected to 2 double beds
but we have no connected rooms
with 2 double beds in each room
♦♦♦♦♦
WHAT THEY SAID
We'll have 'x' amount of guests on our program.
WHAT HAPPENS
One way to 'count' of guests is to count every 'body'
including infants, staff
& those saying for only a couple of nights.
Another way is to pick a number
that is your goal & sticking to it.
With both of these methods
of taking a 'count, it is implied
that the 'number is the number of guests
staying for the entire program.
TRUTH
It is a rare tour operator
who will tell you their 'numbers'
excluding staff members & infants
