WHAT KEEPS YOU AWAKE?
You can't sleep because you're thinking too much
- Set aside time early in the evening to problem solve
- Write down your pressing concerns, along with a possible solution for each, a few hours
before going to bed - Get up and go to another part of the house but leave the lights off
Your anxious thoughts should stop right away
Then you can go back to bed & fall asleep - Lay flat on your back with your feet straight in front of you.
Place your hands at your side
Relax & take slow deep breaths.
Clear your mind of your problems & challenges
Think about happy events or calm scenery

You can't sleep because you hear every noise,
small or big, in your home,
on the street
or from your neighbor's house
- Turn on a ceiling fan or a standing fan - it will act as 'white noise'
- Buy a 'white noise' machine
- Buy ear plugs

You can't sleep because your room is too bright
- If there is a light (even a night light) in the hallway outside your bedroom, shut your door
- Turn your LED alarm clock towards the wall away from you or buy a analog alarm clock
- Wear an eye mask
- Block out brightness by hanging black poster boards behind your shutters
or curtains
