So the fast of Shiv'ah Aser B'Tamuz is a 'nidcha'
& is pushed off to the 18th of Tamuz, Sunday, July 24th
This fast begins at dawn & is over at night
This is a fast day in remembrance of 5 calamities that affected the Jewish people
- Moses broke the tablets of stone
- An idol known as 'the Golden Calf' was erected in a temple in 1313 BCE
- The daily sacrificial offerings were discontinued in 423 BCE
- Jerusalem's walls were breached in 69 BCE
- The Roman military leader Apotomus burned a Torah scroll around 50 CE just before
the Bar Kochba revolt

- Pregnant
- Nursing
If you are not fasting you should only eat simple food.
