WHERE TO LIGHT?
- Facing a window in your home
- In a public domain
WHEN TO LIGHT?
- Anytime after it gets dark
- As early in the evening as possible
- On Friday light Chanukah candles before you light Shabbas candles
- On Saturday light Chanukah candles after havdolah

HOW MANY CANDLES?
- One candle, the Shamas, acts as the 'lighter' for the other candles
- One the 1st night & two the 2nd night, etc.
- Do NOT count the Shamas as one of your candles

1ST BRACHA
This bracha (blessing) is said all 8 nights
Those listening say Amen after this bracha
HEBREW
בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְיָ אֱלֹהֵינוּ מֶלֶךְ הָעוֹלָם אֲשֶׁר קִדְּשָׁנוּ
בְּמִצְוֹתָיו וְצִוָּנוּ לְהַדְלִיק נֵר שֶׁל חַנֻכָּה
TRANSLITERATION
Baruch atah Adonai eloheinu melech ha’olam
asher kidishanu b’mitz’vosav v’tzivanu l’had’lik neir shel Chanukah
ENGLISH
Blessed are you, Lord, our G-d, ruler of the world, who makes us holy with his commandments & commands us to light the Chanukah lights

she’asah nisim la’avoseinu ba’yamim haheimbasman hazeh
ENGLISH
Blessed are you, Lord, our G-d, ruler of the world,
who made miracles for our ancestors in those days at this time

- Use the shamus candle to light the Chanukah candles from left to right (newest to oldest)
- Candles should be left burning until they go out on their own
- They must burn for more than half an hour
- The cusyom is to sing Hah'nay'ros hah' law' loo & Maw'aw'tur
