A constant monotonous cry
together with throwing up &/or a bulge in their soft spot
SYMPTOMS FOR KIDS
A constant screaming together with throwing up
plus any 1 of the other symptoms listed
SYMPTOMS FOR TEENS & ADULTS
Any 2 of the symptoms listed
- Positional Neck Pain
- Spasm in neck – you’ll see them reach for the area & grab the spot
- Lump in neck
- Throat swelling – may complain about sore throat
- Can’t bend chin down to chest
- Fever with Chills
- Fever with a Flat looking red to purple-like rash under the skin
- High fever in combination with back pain & neck muscle tension if inhibits
motion of the head & gets worse - Nausea, throwing up together with headache that doesn’t go away with Tylenol
but instead grows rapidly - Numbness &/or Tingling
- Severe weakness – can’t stand – dizzy
- Doesn’t respond to requests almost as if they don’t hear you
- Convulsions
Doctors recommend that children going to summer sleep-away camp
& college students take the Meningitis shot.
