ALL HAIR TYPES
WHAT CAN HELP?
- Raw eggs
- The yolk is rich in fats & proteins & is naturally moisturizing
- The white, which contains bacteria-eating enzymes, removes unwanted oils
EGG CHOICES
- Use the entire egg to condition hair
- Use egg whites only to treat oily hair
- Use egg yolks only to moisturize dry or brittle hair
RECIPE
- Use 1/2 C of whichever egg mixture is appropriate for you & apply to clean, damp hair
- If there isn't enough egg to coat scalp and hair, use more as needed
- Leave on for 20 minutes & then rinse with cool water to prevent egg from cooking
- Shampoo hair
- Whole egg & yolks-only treatments can be applied once a month
- Whites-only treatment can be applied every two weeks
DRY OR SUN-DAMAGED HAIR
HAIR CAN BE DAMAGED BY
- Using a flat iron
- Showering with hard water
- Overexposure from the sun
WHAT CAN HELP?
- Honey
- Attracts & locks in moisture
RECIPE
- Put 1/2 C honey in a small bowl
- Add 1- 2 T olive oil to loosen the honey for easier application
- If your hair is extremely damaged, add 1 - 2 T of avocado OR egg yolk
- Massage the mix onto clean, damp hair
- Let the mask sit for 20 minutes
- Rinse with warm water
- Treatment can be applied once a month
FOR DULL HAIR

- Both can leave a film that saps moisture & dulls shine
WHAT CAN HELP?
- Dairy products
- Sour Cream & yogurt can strip away dirt & moisturize your hair
RECIPE
- Massage 1/2 C sour cream or plain yogurt into damp hair & let sit for 20 minutes
- Rinse with warm water & then rinse with by cool water
- Shampoo hair as you normally would
- Treatment can be applied every other week.
FOR ITCHY SCALP
HAIR CAN BE DAMAGED BY

WHAT CAN HELP?
- Lemon juice helps get rid of loose dry flakes
- Olive oil moisturizes the newly exposed skin on your head
RECIPE
- Mix 2 T fresh lemon juice, 2 T olive oil & 2 water
- Massage into damp scalp
- Let mixture sit for 20 minutes &, then rinse & shampoo hair
- Treatment can be applied every other week
FOR LIMP OR FINE HAIR
WHAT CAN HELP?
Beer contains generous supplies of yeast,
which works to plump tired tresses can add body to hair
RECIPE
- Pour beer into a container & let it sit out for a couple of hours to deplete carbonation
- Mix 1/2 C flat beer with 1 t light oil (sunflower or canola) & a raw egg
- Apply to clean, damp hair & let sit for 15 minutes, then rinse with cool water
- Another option
1. Add the flat beer to a spray bottle & spritz onto dry hair
2. When the liquid evaporates, the remaining protein residue continues to strengthen
& structure hair - Treatments can be applied every other week.
FOR OILY OR GREASY HAIR
WHAT CAN HELP?
Cornmeal or Cornstarch is an inexpensive way to remove oil & grease
RECIPE
- Pour 1 T cornmeal or cornstarch into an empty salt or pepper shaker
- Sprinkle onto dry hair & scalp until you’ve used it all
- After 10 minutes, use a paddle hairbrush to completely brush it out
- Treatment can be applied every other day
FOR FRIZZY HAIR
WHAT CAN HELP?
- Avocados repair damaged hair
- The oils & proteins in avocados boast the best combination of nutrients for smoothing
& weighing down unruly hair
RECIPE
- Mash up half an avocado & massage into clean, damp hair
- Let sit for 15 minutes before rinsing with water
- Amp up moisturizing power by combining mashed avocado with 1 to 2 T of a hydrating
ingredient like sour cream, egg yolks or mayonnaise - Treatment can be applied every two weeks
FOR RESIDUE-RIDDEN HAIR
WHAT CAN HELP?
Baking soda, sodium bicarbonate breaks down anything acidic
RECIPE
- Mix 1 to 2 T baking soda with small amounts of water until a thick paste forms
- Massage into damp hair & let sit for 15 minutes
- Rinse with water, then shampoo hair
- Treatment can be applied every two weeks
